Journalette FAQs
What exactly is a Journalette™?
A Journalette is a tiny, finishable journal made from a single sheet of paper.
You fold it into eight panels, fill it in minutes, and actually finish it.
Each one has a theme — like self-care, boundaries, or emotional release. So you’re not staring at a blank page wondering what to write.
Why “tiny”?
Because most journals get abandoned halfway through.
Tiny is doable. Tiny is finishable. Tiny is powerful.
One page. One theme. One small daily win.
How do I make one?
-
Print a Journalette (just one sheet).
-
Follow the folding demo (I’ll show you how. It’s simple).
-
Fill it. That’s it.
Here’s a demonstration video showing how to fold a blank sheet of paper into a tiny journal (you can get a head start by downloading and printing one of my Journalettes with prompts and decorations).
You can decorate if you want (washi tape, doodles, stickers), or keep it raw and simple. Both count.
How much time does it take?
Most Journalettes take 2–5 minutes.
You can linger if you want, but you don’t have to.
What if I’m not “creative” or “artsy”?
You don’t need to be. Journalettes are about presence, not pretty.
Stick figures, scribbles, one-word answers, they all count.
Do I need special supplies?
Nope. You only need:
-
A piece of paper (the Journalette template).
-
A pen or pencil.
That’s it. Everything else (markers, washi tape, stickers) is extra (if you feel like it).
What kinds of Journalettes are there?
Lots. Some examples:
-
The 90-Second Reset (a nervous system pause).
-
The Free Flow (spill your truths without rules).
-
The Tiny Self-Care (Must-Care + Maybe-Care).
-
The Boundaries Blueprint (small steps to stop abandoning yourself).
And more are coming every week.
Can I really count it as journaling if it’s this small?
Yes. Small counts. Always.
Even one page can shift how you feel, anchor your day, or help you hear yourself.
Do you believe big journals are bad? How is this different from a bullet journal?
Most definitely NOT! I still use big journals sometimes. But most days, I grab a journalette. It feels simpler, quicker, less demanding. That is the stage I am in right now. Maybe you can relate?
I find people, like me, who love jumping to new ideas love Journalettes. They feel like less commitment, and we can create and explore various themes and keep moving, without the guilt of abandoning yet another journal.
What if I miss a day?
No shame. Begin again.
Journalettes are built for completion, not perfection.
How can I help the environment?
Use the back of your Journalette (see the next question below) to make the most use of each sheet of paper. Unfold the Journalette and use the blank side for more writing, doodling, list writing, whatever you want.
What if I start writing and want to write more than the Journalette space allows?
Unfold it and write on he back (blank side) of the Journalette. I have a video coming up about this. Stay tuned.
Do you offer digital Journalettes?
The design is made for folding paper, but if printing isn’t an option, you can fill them digitally.
That said, the act of folding + holding the paper is part of the magic.
Can kids/teens use Journalettes?
Yes. They’re simple and adaptable for all ages. Some parents use them with their kids as a gentle way to talk about feelings.
